NAB

Well, NAB 2011 has come and gone and the show was, as always, a whirlwind of activity and interesting news. We had many happy iDC customers pop in for a visit and made lots of new friends. I spoke in the Canon booth to Standing Room Only crowds. All-in- all a great show.

Ace French Director and European Champion of all Things iDC, Sébastien Devaud, joined us for a fine sushi dinner on Sunday evening then stopped by the booth to make a nice little video report on the action.

Check out the ultra-sexy, affordable, versatile, and totally New Skool SYSTEM ONE for the Panasonic AG-AF100. It’s finished, fabulous, and will be available for shipping very soon. This production sample was snatched from our assembly line for a few snapshots and it works perfectly. As with all of our iDC products it features a custom fit and not a generic adaptation. Currently we are at the NAB show in Las Vegas where you can see and handle this nifty new set-up in person. Find us, and our latest gear offerings, in booth C7148!

The last time I blogged properly was weeks ago when we were preparing for NAB and a quick trip to Oahu for several different projects.

The National Association of Broadcasters show was great and filled with many planned and serendipitous meetings, We saw many of our long-time gear users and friends and met many, many more new ones. We spoke with lovely folks from all over the world and broke bread with as many as we could. It was a really great show with way, way too much to see, especially when working in one booth and speaking in another twice a day.

Although our friends at Canon will be showing our iDC Photo Video gear in their palatial 14,000 sq. ft. NAB “booth” - that’s right, fourteen thousand square feet - we felt that we should also take a booth to display our latest wares away from the crush of humanity that canon is sure to attract. At a postage-stamp-like 100 square feet, the wee little iDC booth wouldn’t even serve as a coat closet for the Canon staff but it will give you ample room to see and handle our gear at your leisure.

So do stop by! We’ll be debuting some compact, elegant, and extremely useful new gadgets that we’re quite sure you’ll love. Check us out at Booth C8438. We’re in the same building as Uncle Canon!

I rolled the Power Puppy into the Westcott booth at NAB and got unprecedented response. Videographers who need convenient location power for both 12vdc and 120vac powered lighting instruments immediately appreciated the concept. With wheels and a lightstand riser that exceeds 100 inches, the Power Puppy makes perfect sense for use with Daylight Fluorescent or Strobes.

It looks like I will be licensing this design to a major grip gear manufacturer for mass production but I still have a few left from my most recent production run. Check ‘em out In our web store.

The National Association of Broadcasters will hold its convention in Las Vegas from April 11th to April 17th. If it’s anything like last year this will be an amazing show. The scale of this event dwarfs any still shooters' convention that I have attended and there is cool stuff to look at wherever you turn.  I'll be there with eyes peeled...
