Today Canon made some headlines announcing Canon Cinema EOS with a new Digital Cinema Camera (The EOS C300), and a new Digital SLR Camera (under development) that is capable of shooting 4K video.

The exciting part from iDC: We will have SYSTEM ONE available for both these cameras when they hit the market. iDC SYSTEM ONE is a modular and versatile Camera Support System designed for filmmakers who understand the value of a well designed tripod-based camera system.

Although this CLL Speedlite Workshop was held much earlier in the summer, the timing of this video’s release is perfect. Thanks to my friends at Canon USA, this week will find me “on assignment” to create a ten-part series of instructional videos on this very same subject; Environmental Portraiture with Canon Speedlites.

Our pal Tyler Stableford shared this splashy behind-the-scenes snapshot of a couple of Marine Corps Filmmakers working with iDC’s System Zero. Tyler was instructing the Marines during a week-long Canon-sponsored workshop.

I recently traveled to Carbondale, Colorado (just outside of Aspen) to document one of my fellow Explorers at work. Canon Explorer of Light, Tyler Stableford, an Action/Adventure shooter of considerable talent, recently shot some compelling ice climbing sequences for the outdoors clothing manufacturer, Patagonia.

Well, I’ve been tapped once again to helm several stops on the Canon Live Learning Tour. These are weekend seminars and workshops under the banner of EOS Immersion. We’ll begin in San Diego in late April then move on to Chicago, Houston, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco, Hartford, Portland, and Los Angeles.

Even though our Editor Paul has been swamped with other projects, I held his feet to the fire and conned him into editing the footage the attendees gathered during the Dallas stop on the Canon Live Learning Tour.  The result, CLL Dallas, is the second installment of our ongoing mini-mini-series, Video Victims Unit. 

I'll be giving EOS HD Video Basics presentations and teaching HD Video workshops in Dallas and Seattle as part of the Canon Live Learning Tour.  On November 7th & 8th we'll be in Dallas and December 5th & 6th will find us in Seattle.  If you're anywhere near these areas you mustn't miss this chance to get in on the action!
