This painting is a result of our participation in a fund-raising event for Arizona Ballet. We were very happy to donate a Photo Impressionism® Portrait Package which was awarded in an auction to this excited couple.  Modern day patrons of the arts!  See the painterly details up close...

I did my retouch of Bruce’s capture in Photoshop and then used various combinations of Painter’s Default Cloner Brush Variants to further transform the photograph into a digital painting.

Using a “wet” photograph as the beginning of painting is a rather strange yet totally cool and magical thing! Painter X offers the digital artist an incredibly jam-packed range of possibilities.

Once you have a handle on the basics of the digital painting process, you will be unstoppable! My advice: jump-in and learn your way around.  You can’t go anywhere until you start!  If you have tried jumping in on your own and you’re not making paintings that you like yet, then you might consider shortening your learning curve with an investment in professional instruction.  Look around for teachers who demonstrate the style you want to learn more about and seek out their training materials.

But hey back to the details….

Details, Details, Details!  They are like the last sweet little kiss a painter gives his work!
Don’t leave home without them!  The little sparkles, the little catch lights...

P.S. The goal of  the my m2 Painter X tutorial is to get you started painting!  I provide photographers with a Custom Brush Set along with the Training on how to get started.  Transform your photographs into classic painted portraits. This DVD of video and screen capture focuses on teaching techniques for "The ¾ Human Figure in Oils".  One thing at a time. Make sense?  This method has worked for me when ever I need to learn a feature rich application. Learn one thing well and you’ll most probably be able to learn additional things in the program easier and, more likely on your own.  Get your kick start today!

Marketing Tip:

We probably all know by now that is a great idea for businesses to get involved with local area’s charitable fund-raisers.  What could be better?  A win-win for all … a fab portrait for a “patron” and funds for the organization and great networking for you.  So go do it!
