Well, it’s chilly and cloudy right now but we can count on it being pleasantly warm when I host my next Canon-sponsored "Environmental Portraiture Workshop". I’ll be teaching two individual day-long sessions in beautiful Sedona, Arizona and you really should sign up to join me. Last year’s sessions filled to capacity and we made some stunningly beautiful images. Check out some of my test shots from last year’s session!

Playing With Fire

Gosh, I sure had a blast shooting with the new Canon Cinema EOS C300 last week. The camera arrived just before Christmas Eve and while I had an evening to test it under "Exterior - Night" conditions, I never saw the first lick of flame 'til the proverbial "Take One". That said, I’m very pleased with the my brief fling with this landmark Canon camera and I hope you enjoy viewing this little passion play as much as we enjoyed creating it...

Well, I recently returned from an exciting expedition with a great team of overland adventurers and am happy to report that I remain unbroken and very much alive, much to my surprise. Credit (or blame) for this Old Geezer’s survival rests entirely with Scott Brady, the Publisher of the oh-so-excellent Overland Journal magazine and our incredibly patient and nurturing lead climber, Cam Brensinger, Founder and Senior Designer of Nemo Equipment

Another post about our friend Sébastien... Sébastien was recently in Paris for the 2011 Salon de la Photo where he taught on stage at the Canon booth.  Under Sébastien's careful supervision, three teams - comprised of audience members - produced a finished video in 1 hour - with three different cuts. All teams got to shoot with the iDC SYSTEM ZERO.

Sébastien says "It has been a real success. Complete madness!!! All the public wants to buy the SYSTEM ZERO." Thanks Sébastien!

Sébastien Devaud: The 64th Film Festival at Cannes

Our good friend Sébastien Devaud recently attended the 64th Film Festival in Cannes where he shot corporate video for the partners of the festival. Sébastien's iDC SYSTEM ONE kit came in extremely handy when he was given seven solid hours to test drive the Canon's new PL CineZoom. Sébastien made the most of those seven hours by producing the following videos:

Sébastien's setup for most of the images in the gallery is a SYSTEM ONE Super TelePhoto Kit for the Canon 5D Mark II with a Grip.

Canon Cinema EOS

Today Canon made some headlines announcing Canon Cinema EOS with a new Digital Cinema Camera (The EOS C300), and a new Digital SLR Camera (under development) that is capable of shooting 4K video.

The exciting part from iDC: We will have SYSTEM ONE available for both these cameras when they hit the market. iDC SYSTEM ONE is a modular and versatile Camera Support System designed for filmmakers who understand the value of a well designed tripod-based camera system.
