iDC SYSTEM ZERO
Introducing the iDC SYSTEM ZERO Gearless Follow-Focus from iDC Photo Video for small form-factor cameras.
The iDC SYSTEM ZERO is a compact and modular follow-focus solution for filmmakers who wish to maximize the utility of their HDSLRs. SYSTEM ZERO is a logical evolution of our original and award-winning iDC Run & Gun. Fast and easy lens changes highlight this affordable follow-focus design as there are no gears to worry about. This gearless solution offers an excellent documentary Run & Gun style of shooting yet will easily accept Tripod adapter plates when the shooting situation calls for it.
SYSTEM ZERO retains iDC’s economical gearless follow-focus solution but refines the tactile and operational details to an elegant and logical conclusion. SYSTEM ZERO’s modular construction enhances forward compatibility.
iDC SYSTEM ZERO Gearless Follow-Focus is available in two models:
- The "Standard" Kit accommodates many wide to medium focal length lenses.
- The "XL" Kits accommodate the Canon 70-200mm as well as many of the wide lenses.
For a full list of compatible lenses for each of the kits visit our online store.

Tactile Improvements:
Additional CNC milling operations and hand-finishing steps have been employed to make SYSTEM ZERO a delight to hold and behold. Always compact and tightly-tailored for the task at hand, iDC products now feel as good as they look. Weight, as always, is kept to a minimum with our low-mass design - an HDSLR camera with our SYSTEM ZERO Follow-Focus installed can be slipped into a gadget bag or slung from the shoulder with equal ease.
Operational improvements - Modular Construction:
SYSTEM ZERO features pin-registered, camera-specific Dedicated Camera plates. As new cameras become available, users will be able to update their system with just the addition of a new perfectly-tailored and affordable Dedicated Camera Plate.

SYSTEM ZERO shares SYSTEM ONE’s updated Focusing Wheel Assembly. This upgraded wheel assembly features dovetailed fitment (for easier handling when changing lenses) and our new “Kick-Back” design for better accommodation of shorter focal length lenses.
SYSTEM ZERO may be mounted to any shoulder rig that attaches to a camera by way of a 1/4”-20 fastener.
With the addition of our forthcoming SYSTEM ONE Short Camera Riser/Clamp, SYSTEM ZERO’s Dedicated Camera Plates will also be compatible with SYSTEM ONE. SYSTEM ONE was originally introduced to accommodate “Tall Cameras” such as Canon’s 1D MKIV, Nikon’s D3s, and grip-equipped cameras such as the Canon 60D, 7D, and 5D MKII. The combination of the SYSTEM ONE Short Camera Riser/Clamp and a SYSTEM ZERO Dedicated Camera Plate will allow SYSTEM ONE users to easily mount and use the shorter form-factor cameras at last. Owners of both systems will be able to freely move their cameras back and forth between both systems.
Greater Lens Compatibility
Our newly designed adjustable Focusing Plates (both Standard & XL) now feature equally spaced and dovetailed Focusing Wheel Assembly slots for compatibility with many more lenses. For lenses with focusing rings that fall in-between the provided slots, fine adjustment of the Focusing Plate’s location is provided. No screws to remove or lose; simply loosen the Focusing Plate’s fastening screw and slide the whole assembly until perfect fitment is achieved, retighten, and shoot.
Easy Assembly and Instant Installation
Once SYSTEM ZERO is fully assembled, installation and removal takes mere seconds. The spinning of one captive screw is all it takes! It’s a snap to go from bare-naked still camera to fully-functional HD camera in moments.

LCD Magnifying Loupe Compatibility
SYSTEM ZERO accepts multiple LCD magnifying loupes including our own adapted QR version of the Hoodman HoodLoupe 3.0, the Zacuto Z-Finder mounted directly to the iDc Camera Plate and the LCDVF.
