July 2010 UPDATE:

First a big "thank-you" to all of you who have expressed interest in the iDC SYSTEM ONE.

We had hoped to be delivering our first batch of System One kits by July 15th but production delays continue to plague us.  Our machine shop and anodizer have been overwhelmed with increasing demand for our original Run & Gun so it now looks like we'll need a few more weeks for them to catch up.  This is extremely frustrating for us and we'll be taking steps to expand production through additional sub-contractors at the earliest opportunity.

As the only guy actually using System One on a daily basis, i can say it will be worth the wait!

Once again, sorry for the delays.  If I could chop off some heads and not do hard time in the Big House, I promise you I would...

At the time of this writing, we’re just a day away from leaving for Las Vegas and the annual NAB Convention.  The 2010 National Association of Broadcaster’s Convention will be the official debut of our new super-compact and modular HDSLR camera platform henceforth known as iDC SYSTEM ONE.

SYSTEM ONE is built upon a Double-Dovetail MonoRail.  This monorail may be directly mounted onto most of the smaller-scale fluid heads and monopods from Gitzo, Bogen, and Manfrotto with no adapters or quick release plates required.  If you use another brand of fluid head or quick release system, no worries; the iDC SYSTEM ONE monorail will be quick to adapt via either the industry-standard 3/8”-16 or 1/4”-20 threaded bosses.

The top surface of the SYSTEM ONE Double-Dovetail is machined to be Arca-Swiss friendly and acts as the foundation for our unique Gearless Follow-Focus.  As an evolution of the concept, a new sliding clamp system has been developed to allow the use of a wide variety of lens without the need for cumbersome and expensive ring gears for each-and-every lens in your kit.

This Arca-Swiss style upper dovetail also acts as a versatile anchor point for a variety of interchangeable and dedicated HDSLR camera baseplates.  Our initial offerings include dedicated plates for the Canon 1D MK IV, Canon 5D MK II with the BG-E6 Battery Grip, 5D MK II without the BG-E6 Battery Grip, Canon 7D with the BG-E7 Battery Grip, Canon 7D without BG-E7 Battery Grip, and the Nikon D3s.  Each configuration will require a dedicated camera-specific baseplate but re-rigging is easy and lightning fast.  Modular design means you won’t out-grow the iDC SYSTEM ONE platform as you acquire new and different HDSLR bodies...

The added benefit of our Double-Dovetail MonoRail is almost infinite adjustability.  The position of both the camera body and our Gearless Follow-Focus assembly can be easily adjusted and balanced to taste.  The basic kit comes with a compact 6” monorail but you can easily add a 9” or 12” version if you need some elbow room to build out your kit.

Our existing rigid-mount Hoodman Viewfinders for the 5D MK II or 7D camera (without the battery grips) will also work perfectly with our new dedicated SYSTEM ONE baseplates.  No, your original iDC Canon System Plates will not be adaptable but we think previous owners will appreciate the new contoured plates and not resent the necessary upgrade.  We now offer a rigid-mount Hoodman 3.0 loupe for Canon 1D MK IV users as well.  We understand the interest in a cost-effective viewfinder for the taller versions of the 5D MK II and the 7D - with Battery Grips - and are continuing to pursue a solution.

Competent HD filmmaking often requires a variety of external accessories and SYSTEM ONE anticipates this need.  Add our clamp-on Sliding Accessory Yoke and gain a light-weight platform for wireless receivers, external microphones, or fill lights.  Add a Balancing Block and Grip Handle to the Sliding Accessory Yoke and convert your SYSTEM ONE platform into a handy under-slung rig.

With modularity as the key-word, rest assured that we will be adding more quick-release accessories soon after our initial product roll-out.

You’re gonna love this baby...
